I acquired this item in south central Virginia a few years back. I thought it was a stone axe head but it seems the third groove on the back end is unusual to say the least. It seems a bit light in weight and the surface can be dug into with a fingernail here and there like poorly fired pottery but it could be just the weathering of the rock from being buried some thousands of years.
